Happy Halloween!

Daniel and I went to Disneyland Paris yesterday! We went to celebrate Halloween, go on rides, and to just generally re-live the Disneyland trip we took when we were small.

We spent the entire day there and managed to cover Walt Disney Studios and Disneyland Park, and stayed the night for their special Halloween Party. The weather was incredible (all sun, no rain, and pretty warm) and the crowds weren’t too bad.

Our first ride at Walt Disney Studios, and definitely a favorite for both of us, was the Tower of Terror. It basically just makes you go up really fast and then drops you, all in pitch black, so you don’t really know if you’re going up or down except for when you get to the very top and can see over the whole park. Basically, it is just ridiculous - As evidenced by the picture they took during the ride where I’m plugging my ears, closing my eyes, and screaming. I have a total love-hate relationship with rides - I don’t really enjoy them while I’m on but afterwards I’m always glad I did it.

We then went on Aerosmith’s Roller Coaster and the Behind the Scenes Tram ride. The tram ride was pretty exciting because you were put on a set with exploding oil barrels, torrential rain and an earthquake!

In Disneyland Park we went on Space Mountain first, which is basically a roller coaster with cool lights. Then as were walking out of it, we noticed they were playing Captain EO - the 3D movie with Michael Jackson made in the 80s, which we had first seen nearly two decades ago at our first Disneyland trip! We obviously had to watch it again and it was definitely better than I remembered.

After that we just walked around the park, stopped at Alice in Wonderland’s Garden of Curiosities and went to the Indiana Jones ride. There was almost a two hour line at Indiana Jones but, after only about five minutes of waiting, a couple came up to us and offered us their fast pass tickets so we just walked straight through! It was a serious stroke of luck, and prevented some disappointment because the ride itself was not worth waiting that long for.

We took a break and had our second meal of plastic-y junk food, and then went to the Halloween Party. All of the Disney Villains (including Cruella DeVille, Jaffar, Gaston, and Hook) put on a show, and afterwards there was a parade. It was a pretty awesome way to spend Halloween but definitely not as festive as in Canada. Hardly anyone was dressed up during the day, although there were a few more at night, and there was no trick-or-treating or candy to be found!

Overall, it was definitely worth it. We had a ton of fun and went on some amazing rides. It was fun to go back to somewhere I have memories as a kid (and even though its on another continent, it is the exact same - except for the hilarious Franglais spoke by the characters!) We took a ton of pictures, but here’s a selection of some of the better (or at least funnier) ones...

Clearly the Tower of Terror lived up to its name (at least for me, Daniel looks like he's having nothing but fun!)
